French Green Beans
My family, especially my children ask for these green beans with dinner at least once a week. The other thing they request is that I make the entire package. It wasn’t always this way. Green beans were at the tope of the least liked vegetable list (despised would also be a good way to describe how my children felt about green beans) UNTIL I started making them with Trader Joe’s Garlic Seasoning Salt. They are actually disappointed when they ask for them and I don’t have any packages left in the freezer.
This has now been a family favorite for more than 5 years so I’m confident others will enjoy this side as much as my family. Even though this falls under the category of a “how-to” rather than a recipe, it’s a great side to serve with just about any meal; Salmon & Rice, Steak & Baked Potato, Chicken & Mashed Potatoes, Ribs & Corn etc.
The only pre-planning neccessary is to have the 3 basic ingredients available:
- Green Beans
- Garlic Salt
With a few extra add-ons you can easily change these up to add a little more variety to your “green-bean” repertoire.
Quick & Easy family favorite veggie, that pairs well with just about any meal.
- 1 bag Frozen French Green Beans* I have used both Fresh & Frozen
- 1-2 TBL Olive Oil Any High Heat Oil
- 2-3 tsp* Garlic Seasoning Salt *Season to taste; 2-3 tsp is an estimate
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan on high heat
Add the green beans and seasoning. Toss to combine.
Toss every few minutes until heated to desired temperature. If desired, add more seasoning to taste.
These green beans taste great with
- toasted, sliced almonds
- bacon bits
- combination of both
If using almonds, toast on medium low heat, tossing continually until evenly browned. Set aside & sprinkle on top when serving.
If using bacon bits. Saute the bacon bits on medium-high heat. Remove from pan and set aside. Continue with recipe as directed, adding the bacon bits after the green beans are heated to desired temperature.
Set aside & sprinkle on top when serving.
